My review of Pet Gear No Zip NV Pet Stroller:

I was first introduced to the concept of a pet stroller by another Sheltie owner and was immediately intrigued! I knew that I wanted Sophi to travel with me and, since we like to do a lot of walking, I was concerned her little legs might not be able to keep up. I was amazed at the number of different pet strollers on the market and the wildly varied price points.

I must admit that the Pet Gear NV pet stroller was not actually the first stroller I purchased or even the second! In the early days, I seriously underestimated the need for a really good stroller on vacations plus I didn’t realize that Sophi was going to quickly outgrow (lengthwise) the first two before she was even a year old. Luckily, I didn’t pay top dollar for either one of those first two strollers and, in the process, I learned what was actually important to me with regard to features and options so I could get the most bang for my buck.

I went back to researching options, based on my new needs, and sifted through the ones that were contenders until I finally narrowed it down to the Pet Gear No Zip NV Pet Stroller. It seemed to check all the boxes so I purchased it from Amazon and we haven’t looked back since, lol! It definitely lived up to my expectations and has proven to be the perfect stroller for us!

Now, you may ask, “Do I really need a pet stroller?” The immediate answer for us is a resounding YES! My Pet Gear NV Pet Stroller has saved our backs on many vacations and outings where a lot of walking was involved. Sophi has a good amount of energy but she tends to get overheated easily which makes her tire more quickly. Sophi also weighs a very solid 27 pounds and gets very heavy, very quickly if she has to be carried when she becomes too tired to walk. For this reason alone, the Pet Gear NV Stroller has been a blessing more times than I can count. Another perk, of having your pet stroller with you, is that you can put all the bags, purses, shopping bags, etc. into your stroller, close the lid, and have all your valuables securely contained so you don’t have to carry them around until your pooch tires out and needs to be put into the stroller. Without having to carry all that extra weight, you’d be suprised at how much longer you can stay out and about enjoying your vacation or leisure time.

In addition to our experiences, pet strollers are also used for a variety of other reasons. They help avoid stress on your pet’s body if they are having trouble walking due to joint pain, arthritis, or recent surgery. Strollers also function as a crate on wheels. Wherever you go, your pet, whether it be a dog, cat, furry (or not so furry) friend, will be able to keep you company while remaining safely contained inside the stroller.

Pros of the Pet Gear No Zip NV Pet Stroller:
* Air Tires provide a smooth, super comfortable ride for your pet and the air tires make it a pleasure to push this stroller around. The first strollers I bought had plastic wheels which caused a rough ride for Sophi and also was very hard on the person pushing the stroller because of the jarring vibration in your hands and arms. Plastic wheels are okay for short walks in the park but if you really want to use your pet stroller a lot, the air tires are definitely worth the extra money. TIP: store an inexpensive air pump in the compartment at the bottom of your stroller to keep the tires pumped up for maximum riding comfort as well as a can of Fix-a-Flat for any mishaps on rough terrain.
* No-Zip technology- this is easily one of the most innovative features in pet strollers today. The No-Zip feature on this stroller is an easy-locking latch instead of a zippered closure. No zippers means no hassle. So easy when trying to open and close the stroller. TIP: a great feature to safely store your valuables in the stroller when it’s not being used by your furbaby.
* Locking front wheel for walking or jogging over rough terrain. TIP: make sure to unlock the front wheel before trying to fold the stroller down. It won’t go down properly unless the front tire is unlocked.
* Super easy one hand, one second fold down feature for storing stroller.
* Includes an attached short leash with clip to secure your pet inside the stroller and a plush bolster pad for your pooch’s comfort. TIP: put a twin size flat sheet or large towel around the bolster pad which can be more easily removed and washed in case your pet has muddy or dirty feet.
* Spacious interior for your pet. Can accomodate pets up to 70 lbs and is roomy front to back.
* Large panoramic mesh window allows your pet to still take in all the action while they’re resting and to stay cool while air circulates in and out of the mesh.
* Includes a waterproof cover to keep your pup dry while riding in rainy weather.
* Dual cupholders and large compartment to store water and treats for easy access.
* Thick padding on the handle for maximum comfort while pushing the stroller.
* The price of this particular model hits around the $200 mark on average. Amazon currently lists the price at $244 but when I purchased it in 2015, i paid $189.99. Although the Pet Gear pet stroller has a pretty hefty price tag, it is not as expensive as some of the even higher end pet strollers and for me, my furbaby, and my family, the Pet Gear No Zip NV Pet Stroller is worth every penny!

Cons of Pet Gear No Zip NV Pet Stroller:
* The only con that I have found with this particular pet stroller is the weight of the stroller itself. It weighs in at 32 lbs. This is a negative for me because I keep the stroller in the back of my Tahoe SUV and it is very difficult to get the stroller up into the cargo area with only one person. It’s partially because of the weight but mainly because it’s big and bulky too. The size is a plus when actually using the pet stroller for it’s intended purpose so this is not really a con but is a negative for my particular circumstances. If Sophi and I are doing a normal walk at the park, I don’t have to use the stroller so it’s not a problem and if we’re on vacation or a lengthier excursion, I always have someone with me to help lift it so still not an issue really.

Final Verdict: The Pet Gear No Zip NV Pet Stroller is a clear winner!

My name is Terrence and I am thinking about purchasing one of these units for my Large Maine Coon cat. I have read a lot about the front wheel wobbling. Did that happen with yours?
Also, how long have you owned it? Is it still working the same, or relatively the same as when you first got it?

    Thank you for taking questions

Hi Terrence, thanks for your questions! I have owned this stroller for about 6 years now and still highly recommend it. It functions as well today as it did when I first purchased it and it has experienced a lot of wear and tear over the years but still looks and performs like brand new. The only thing I have to periodically do is pump up the tires for a smooth ride and this also makes it easier to push. The wobble of the front wheel occurs when the front wheel is not locked in for “rough terrain”. There is a locking mechanism on the wheel that stabilizes the tire when the stroller is on terrain that is not perfectly smooth. In my experience, the front wheel should almost always be in the locked position because any little bump causes the wheel to wobble if it’s not locked. You do sacrifice some maneuverability when the front wheel is locked but I find the stroller performs better overall on this setting and I don’t notice any significant steering problems. Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions and I will more promptly answer them. I also apologize for my delay in my initial response, that won’t be an issue going forward. Thanks so much for checking out my website!
